An intimate group of art lovers recently enjoyed a unique experience, learning first-hand from artist Mbali Tshabalala. Unlike traditional Sip 'n Paint sessions that focus on canvas art, this workshop offered a hands-on introduction into the world of photo litho and collage.

The lucky participants were treated to this experience as part of June’s ‘Deconstructed solo exhibition that featured Mbali’s works.

This initiative sees a new artist featured every month, with the theme challenging them to break down their conventional approach and present new, thought-provoking works.

A hands-on artistic journey

Guests gathered in Mbali's studio where the intimate setting encouraged personal interaction and guidance. Participants experimented with creating artworks on wood blocks, playing with textures and techniques that define Mbali's unique style.

With food and drink readily available, the event was a relaxed and friendly outing, with frequent breaks to enjoy the refreshments, admire completed pieces, and chat to those working on their creations.

The vibrant gallery, filled with Mbali's ‘Fragments of Infinity’ solo show, served a backdrop and inspiration, enriching the overall experience.

Creating lasting memories

The crowning moment was the end of the workshop when participants were able to take home their own unique artworks

This one-on-one engagement with Mbali and the creative process left everyone with more than just a finished product it gave them stories to share and memories to cherish.
